The Lake Hotel team have great cause for celebration this week as Executive Chef Noel Enright has been named Ireland’s Best Chef at the Irish Hotel & Catering Gold Medal Awards. The awards ceremony took place in the Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway on Tuesday the 28th of January, hosted by Anton Savage and sponsored by Virgin Media. Now in their 35th year, these prestigious awards are recognised as the leading independent awards programme for the Irish hospitality industry.
As The Lake Hotel prepared to reopen for the 2025 season, Chef Noel Enright taking home the coveted title of Ireland’s Best Chef was a wonderful start to the year for the luxury, four-star, family run hotel.
Executive Chef Noel Enright has led the culinary team at The Lake Hotel since 2014, managing the kitchen teams for The Castlelough Restaurant, The Lakeside Bistro, and The Lounge. Under Noel’s leadership, The Lake Hotel has won a whole host of dining accolades including Irish Hotel Awards, Yes Chef, AA Rosettes and Hotel & Catering Gold Medal awards. Chef Noel Enright takes great pride in delivering culinary excellence with delectable, seasonally attuned dishes. With a passion for ingredients, Noel & his team have created a garden on the grounds of the hotel for growing vegetables and herbs and, beehives to produce Lake Hotel Honey.
This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Noel Enright, his team of chefs and the hotel’s restaurant team who are committed to providing an exemplary dining experience and establishing The Lake Hotel as a multi-award-winning gourmet destination.
The Lake Hotel reopened for the season on the 30th of January with some exciting new developments. Each year, the Huggard family invest in the enhancement of the hotel and strive to maintain a high level of standard for their guests. The hotel’s winter projects have included the revamp of 20 bedrooms, refurbishments in The Lakeside Bistro, and the completion of a wonderful addition to the property, The Lake Thermal Suite. The Lake Thermal Suite is for resident’s use and provides a peaceful retreat in the heart of nature; fully equipped with steam room, sauna, salt sauna, experiential shower pods, infinity pool and outdoor hot tub.
